What do you actually keep on an Etsy sale?
Enter your price and costs. You'll see every Etsy fee, your real profit, and the price you need to hit the margin you want.
How Etsy fees work
Every Etsy sale carries several separate charges. This calculator uses current US rates:
- Listing fee: $0.20 when an item is listed, and again each time it renews after a sale.
- Transaction fee: 6.5% of the item price plus shipping and gift wrap.
- Payment processing: 3% plus $0.25 on the full amount the buyer pays, sales tax included.
- Offsite Ads: 15%, or 12% for shops over $10,000 a year, only when an Etsy ad brought the buyer. Capped at $100 per order.
- Currency conversion: 2.5% when your listing currency differs from your bank's currency.
Pricing tip
Count your time as a cost. If the profit only looks good when your labor is free, raise the price or cut material costs. The target margin box shows the exact price that keeps your margin where you want it after fees.
Worked example
On a sale where you receive $32.95, Etsy fees come to $3.58 (10.9% of the sale). After $11.50 in product, shipping and packaging costs, you keep $17.87, a 54% margin. These are the calculator's starting numbers, so you can change any of them above.
| Line | Amount |
|---|---|
| You receive | $32.95 |
| Listing fee | −$0.20 |
| Transaction fee (6.5%) | −$2.14 |
| Payment processing (3% + $0.25) | −$1.24 |
| Your costs | −$11.50 |
| Profit | $17.87 |
