How to read your Etsy monthly statement CSV
Your Etsy statement shows every dollar Etsy collected and charged. The CSV version is the most detailed, but it has many rows per order and is hard to read. Here is how to make sense of it.
Where to download it
In Shop Manager, go to Finances โ Payment account โ Monthly statements, pick a month, and choose Download CSV. Each month is a separate file.
The columns
- Date: when the charge or payment happened.
- Type: what kind of line it is (see below).
- Title and Info: a description, usually with the order number or listing number.
- Amount: money coming in, such as a sale.
- Fees & Taxes: money Etsy took for that line.
- Net: what that line added to or removed from your balance.
The line types you'll see
- Sale: what the buyer paid you for an order.
- Fee: transaction fees (one per item, plus one for shipping), processing fees, listing and renewal fees, and Offsite Ads fees.
- Marketing: Etsy Ads spend.
- Shipping: labels you bought on Etsy.
- Tax: sales tax Etsy collected and paid to the state. It passes through, so it isn't your money or your cost.
- Refund: money returned to a buyer.
- Deposit: money sent to your bank. This moves your money, it is not income or a cost.
Why one order has five or more rows
A single $28 order with shipping usually creates a Sale row, a transaction fee for the item, a transaction fee for shipping, a processing fee, a listing renewal fee, and often a shipping label. To know if that order made money, you have to match all of them by order number.
How to total it yourself
- Open the CSV in a spreadsheet.
- Filter out Deposit and Tax rows.
- Sum the Net column by Type to see sales, fees, ads and labels.
- Divide total fees by total sales to get your real fee rate.
- For profit per order, group rows by the order number in Title or Info.
Common questions
Can I combine several months?
Yes. In a spreadsheet, paste the files one under another. In FeeMath Pro, select several CSV files at once.
Why doesn't my Net total match my deposits?
Deposits happen on a schedule, so a month's deposits can include money from the previous month. Reserves and refunds also shift timing.
Is the Sold Orders CSV the same thing?
No. The Sold Orders CSV lists orders and the processing fee, but not transaction fees, ads or labels. Use the monthly statement for exact fees.
